⏩ The new municipal art gallery "Botis Thalassinos" at Tylissos, about 20 kilometers to the southwest of Heraklion, is really a hidden gem!
Besides the permanent collection of the painter Thalassinos, in the gallery are hosted temporary exhibitions and events. Yesterday, temporary exhibition about contemporary christian art started. Congratulations to the curator Chryssa Vathianaki!
⇑ Pros: new, spacious, building; interesting paintings collection.
⇓ Cons: outside the city of Heraklion, not widely known.
⇨ Where to go / what to do: Plan the visit to the art gallery with a walk in the village of Tylissos, a visit to the nearby archaeological site of the Minoan period, and further excursion to Anogeia or Fodele.
🔝 Best time to visit: all year around in the mornings, except of Mondays and Tuesdays.
