Wonderful Cretan taverns in the region of Heraklion: Giasemi tavern in Fodele

⏩ How to stay cool in the hot weather?



We decided to go to the village of Fodele, a place in a small valley, with lush vegetation, and nearby springs that supply a stream with annual water flow.



What to do there? Of course we went to a tavern for local food!








Basing on TripAdvisor reviews we chosen the tavern "Giasemi". We 've ordered ntakos as starter, seasonal green salad (vlita), and as main course chicken souvlaki and burger, as well as lamb chops.











⇑ Pros: Food was very nice, having the sense of homemade, and the accompanying fried potatoes we also homemade. The portions were large. The complimentary desserts consisted of seasonal fruits and sweet, and a raki-based liquor. Polite staff. Prices were low, and in overall the tavern was value for money. Wonderful spot, by the small river.

 Cons: We would like full grain, or traditional, bread, and more local rusks. Also the decoration of the place could have more traditional elements.









Our rating: 4,5 out of 5.


Next goal: to try local food at the other taverns of Fodele.
